The Adventures of The Comet Dog: Missing Someone is Hard is the true story (with just a bit of literary license) of Comet, a 3-year-old purebred Golden Retriever and his friend, an airman in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. From July 2009, through the conclusion of Comet's story, she is serving with the Air Force medical corps in Iraq, caring for those who bravely serve the United States of America.
While her absence is hard for Comet, every day hundreds of thousands of other children, parents, families, friends, coworkers, others who care, and, yes, pets, also endure the absence of someone who is away serving this country. Our heart goes out to each and every one of them and their special someones.
Missing someone is hard, regardless of the reason a loved-one is away. Keeping them close in our hearts and minds can help ease the separation. Telling The Comet Dog’s story has been a nice way to keep his friend close to the people involved and her close to us.
All of the photos in this story are real. Comet was actually at every location shown. He's had a great time visiting lots of places dogs can't normally go.
