Help The Comet Dog Help Wounded Troops

 

When his friend began her most recent tour of duty in Iraq, Comet wanted to help too. He decided to focus on the needs of the many troops tragically wounded while serving our country.

While our wounded get excellent medical attention, there is always more that can be done to provide additional comfort in their time of need. So far, with the support of friends who formed Team Comet Dog, Comet has been able to send over 1,500 travel pillows and pillowcases to Iraq for critically wounded troops. The pillows are used for added comfort on the long flights to Germany and the United States when these brave heroes need advanced treatment. When asked, the medical unit in Iraq informed us that travel-sized pillows are used more often as they are easier to handle and more functional in limited spaces.

The cost to purchase and send a single pillow and pillowcase to Iraq can exceed $15 each. However, through great effort and the wonderful support of suppliers and shippers, Team Comet Dog has been able to reduce the cost to about $3. Comet's friend is our point person in Iraq, making sure Team Comet Dog's efforts have the most benefit possible.

People's interest in helping and their generous giving has been heartwarming...and we've received word from Iraq that it has meant a great deal to the troops.

Any size contribution will be gratefully accepted. Rarely do you have the opportunity to help so many truly deserving people for so little. As an example, a contribution of $100 will buy pillows for over 30 of our wounded. That's a lot of lives to touch and comfort.
